Striped Flats – Rocket Dog
The first installment of The Shoe Diaries presents: Striped Flats by Rocket Dog
It was a beautiful summer morning. The sky was blue, not a cloud in sight. I needed a fun pop of color to run to the store in my ankle jeans and white button down shirt. I perused The Shoedoir. I looked to the East wing, 3rd shelf down… a sprightly colored pair of unworn flats caught my eye. “Perfect”, I said to myself. I slipped them on and off I went to start my daily adventure.
The maiden voyage of these funtastic flats started with a walk out to the garage which gave way to almost eating it on the slippery laundry room floor. Note to self… these shoes are slippery. Oh, silly shoes. Walking through the parking lot I took caution not to slip which resulted in a slower than normal pace. It wasn’t long before I noticed perhaps another unfavorable feature of this adorable pair of flats… they were flat… real flat… so flat that I cold feel every nook and cranny of the pavement against my feet. With every step it felt like walking on river rock in my bare feet… and then the fun really began. Heat. I could feel the heat of the pavement under my feet. Was I traversing hot coals? Oh, no… for one trillionth of a second I could have sworn I saw smoke emanating from the soles of my feet… were the soles of my adorable shoes on fire? Felt like it. I picked up my pace and landed my self swiftly into the store where I immediately almost ate it on the slippery store tile… Oh silly shoes.
